A mortician, Beatrice works at the village preparing the bodies of those who came to be deceased. She’s responsible for the whole funerary process, making sure everyone has a dignified ending regardless if they are worthy of it or not.

Beatrice comes from a family of mortuary workers, known and trusted by all the villagers throughout generations. The villagers held the Belladonnas in high regard, but always kept a safe distance from the family for their views on death. No matter, they understood that not everyone could see chores connected to death for what they truly were: beautiful, mythical and artistic.

For a long time, the Belladonnas responsible for the funerary house were only Beatrice and her mother, Antigone. Her mother was a closed off person with no friends or deep connections, described as someone cold who constantly sported a serious demeanor. It wasnt always that way, but things changed for the worse after her fathers death. The pain of losing a loved one seeped into Antigone`s work life; corpses that usually took 2 hours to investigate and embalm started taking hours, even days. They would not leave the room for anything, oh so blinded by perfection.

Those moments taught the young mortician two bad habits: to forgo human needs, such as eating or sleeping, focusing solely on work; and talking to the cold bodies of their clients. It was the only consolation for her loneliness. The company of the dead was better than no company at all, especially when Beatrice`s mother would pay her no mind. As soon as Antigone was done with the bodies or when she allowed herself a break, the widow would go straight to her personal library, spending hours there even after dark.

With such an unhealthy lifestyle, it took no time for Antigone to fall ill and perish. Her daugther did not feel any sadness for the passing, only a strong feeling of responsability knowing that the funeral home now relied solely on her abilities. The young Belladonna offered her services to House Hargreeves, as per her mother`s wishes. Surely the body of odd monsters and hunters who forfeited their lives for the greater good would be no big deal when it came to her expertise.

After the matriarch’s death, Bea had the chance to read those old books her mother kept locked away in the personal library. Curiosity always gnawled at her, seeping through her bones yet denied over and over again whenever she dared ask her mother for permission. Now that Beatrice had that chance, she would not be foolish enough to run away from it.

While researching and reading through some of those books, the young mortician came across tales describing an ancient entity - one that seemed so ethereal, so maleficent she could not help but fall in love with it. That quick yet passionate obsession with the entity’s dark powers led Beatrice to a new goal.

Now, she has been… repurpusing old body parts from Belladonnas Funeral Houses faithful clients to create a dignified vessel for her beloved deity. And if she got some parts from the monsters the hunters donated to her services as well, that was only between her and the vessel.

The easiest part was finding a head for the body. A beautiful maiden who had passed away shortly after the book was found, her fair hair cascading around her back like a cloak. It was perfect.

Beatrice kissed its forehead gently, acknowleding it was the key to release her from that cursed, everlasting loneliness.
